We will be celebrating the timeless music of Ray Charles, featuring the extraordinary talents of Dr. Jeff Usher. Renowned as a composer, pianist, singer/songwriter, arranger, and esteemed music educator, Jeff is often described as “one of Brisbane’s living treasures” by legendary Australian jazz musician Paul Grabovsky.
Blind since birth due to advanced glaucoma, Jeff Usher carries on the legacy of remarkable blind pianists such as George Shearing and Ray Charles himself. With a career spanning over forty years, Jeff specializes in jazz while also embracing a wide range of genres, including traditional blues, folk, rock, and country. He has captivated audiences both in Australia and internationally, performing in France, Indonesia, South Africa, India, and Sri Lanka.
